Holiday Gift Guide 2025

As therapists, we spend countless hours working with children and families using tools, strategies, and materials that make therapy effective, engaging, and fun. Over time, certain items become our go-to favorites that we rely on day in and day out. As the holidays approach, many families ask what to buy for use at home to support progress between sessions. That inspired us to put together this gift guide. Below you’ll find the tools and resources our therapists recommend most often, practical, kid-friendly items that help reinforce skills, promote growth, and make everyday moments therapeutic too!

Dinosaur Jumping, Ring Toss, and Rocket Launcher

Why we love it:

This dinosaur toy isn’t just fun, it’s pediatric PT approved! Every jump, toss, and stomp builds strength, balance, coordination, and confidence through play. Perfect for toddlers and preschoolers to encourage gross motor skills and active play both indoors and outdoors!

Scooter Board

Why we love it:

This scooter board is great for improving a child’s strength, sitting balance, and coordination. You can play many games while sitting on the scooter board while propelling in all different directions. Interlocking boards can make the board longer in order for your child to ride on their back or belly. You can even hold scooter board races!

Tot Tube Play Set

Why we love it:

This big tube can be used as reinforcement, for a variety of core words (go, more, etc.) following directions, and as an engaging toy that kids seem to like to model or target various concepts while playing (prepositions, asking questions, requesting). The options are limitless with this one!

Category Mystery Box

Why we love it:

This category mystery box is a big hit with all kids! Kids love to pull out the mystery items. It can be used for sorting, labeling, categories, wh-questions, and many more!

Sight Word Zingo

Why we love it:

If you love Zingo, this takes on an educational twist! Your children will be racing to read the sight words, not realizing they are also practicing their reading skills!

Shape Sorting Cupcakes

Why we love it:

This toy comes with 8 colorful cupcakes with removable tops. It helps to develop counting and color skills, shape identification and imaginary play.

Spin Again

Why we love it:

It stacks and it twirls! Kids love putting the discs on the corkscrew pole and watching it spin fast as it goes down.

My Calm Down Book

This book is an excellent resource for initiating conversations about big emotions and introducing children to various calming strategies.

We hope this guide helps you discover a few new favorites and sparks ideas for meaningful, skill-building play at home. Our team put these recommendations together with your child’s growth in mind, and we can’t wait to hear what you love!
